Why would this program benefit our agency?

The benefit to your agency would be the ability to train non-licensed employees to become home health aides with minimal expense to your agency.  This program will free up licensed personnel to complete important tasks, like caring for patients.

How can my agency recover the cost of purchasing the online Training program?

This is a common question we receive from agencies.  Each agency should have a policy related to the training of an individual, and we have seen some agencies utilize creative solutions in recouping their upfront investment in new employees. If you would like to discuss the successful solutions implemented by some of these agencies, contact

What is supervised practical training?

Supervised practical training means training in a laboratory or other setting in which the trainee demonstrates knowledge while performing the tasks on an individual under the direct supervision of a registered nurse or licensed practical nurse.

How are the skills done if the program is online?

The skills must be completed by your Home Health Agency.

Since this program is online, how can I be sure that the individual taking the course is taking it in the right sequence and not just skipping to the competency test?

Each educational unit must be taken before the next.  A student can not bypass any sections or units, prior to completion.  At the completion of all requirements, the student can print a certificate that can be used as part of the documentation needed for proof of competency.

How does my agency document completion and competency of skills?

The skills checklists are printable.  When they are completed, they can be placed in the employees file along with a copy of their certificate of completion.

How is the training documented if the course is completed online?

All documentation regarding this training program should include:

- A description of the training/competency evaluation program, including  qualifications of the agency instructors;

- A record that distinguishes between skills taught at the client’s bedside, with supervision, and those taught in a laboratory using a volunteer or “pseudo-client,” (not a mannequin) and indicators of which skill each aide was judged to be competent; and

- How additional skills (beyond basic skills listed in regulation) are taught and tested if the admissions policy and case-mix of HHA clients requires aides to perform more complex procedures.
